Judge Óscar Cabello Sarubbi (Judge of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea
(ITLOS)), a Member of the Tribunal since 1 October 2017, delivered a lecture on 12 May to
the IMLI Class of 2020-2021 entitled ‘Advisory Opinion on Fishing in the EEZ of other States
(case no. 21).’ He was introduced by Professor David Attard (Director, IMLI), who noted that
in Judge Cabello, the Tribunal has an outstanding academic with a long-standing diplomatic
career. Professor Attard also informed the Government nominated participants that Judge
Cabello is very knowledgeable and has written extensively in the area in which he was going
to lecture on.
