Main Beneficiaries of the Project

The Project is undertaken by providing scholarship funding for deserving qualified government nominated candidates within the Institute’s LL.M. and M. Hum. programmes. Beneficiaries under the Project are selected from the largest possible number of eligible candidates who have received academic clearance from the Institute. Candidates must always fulfill the Institute’s admission requirements in respect of its LL.M. programme and M.Hum. programme, respectively. In particular, they must be in possession of an internationally-recognized first degree in law and proficient in the English language. It is also proposed that priority be again given to candidates from Asian/Pacific States.

Since the launching of the Project, one hundred and eighty-three (183) maritime professionals from seventy-four (74) States: Albania, Angola, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahamas (the), Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Dominica, Dominican Republic (the), Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gambia (the), Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands (the), Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Myanmar, Nigeria, Niue, Oman, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines (the), Samoa, Seychelles, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Sudan (the), Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Viet Nam, Yemen and Zambia.
